Entrepreneurship plays a vital role in the economic and social development of any nation. Entrepreneurs contribute to employment generation, innovation, wealth creation, industrial development, and improvement in the standard of living. They act as catalysts for economic growth by identifying opportunities, introducing new products and services, and promoting regional development. The present study, titled "The Importance of Entrepreneurs in Society: A Study Conducted in Mysore," aims to understand the role and contribution of entrepreneurs towards society and the economy. The study also examines public perception regarding entrepreneurship and its impact on employment, innovation, and community development. A descriptive research design with a quantitative research approach has been adopted. Primary data were collected through a structured questionnaire from respondents in Mysore, while secondary data were collected from books, journals, research articles, government reports, and websites. The findings of the study are expected to provide valuable insights into the significance of entrepreneurship in promoting sustainable economic and social development.
KEYWORDS
Entrepreneurship plays a significant role in promoting the socio-economic development of society. The findings of the study indicate that respondents generally have a positive perception of entrepreneurship and recognize its contribution to employment generation, innovation, economic growth, and community development. The strong positive correlation between the entrepreneurship ecosystem and socio-economic development confirms that a supportive entrepreneurial environment contributes to overall societal progress. Although respondents appreciated the entrepreneurial climate in Mysore, improvements are still required in institutional support, financial accessibility, and social contribution initiatives. Overall, the study concludes that entrepreneurship is an essential driver of sustainable economic development, and greater support from government, educational institutions, financial organizations, and society will further strengthen entrepreneurial growth in Mysore.
