This study investigates the influence of reward and recognition systems on employee motivation in the manufacturing industry. Employee motivation is a critical factor that enhances productivity, job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and overall business performance. The study adopts a descriptive research design and employs a quantitative approach to collect primary data from 100 employees using a structured questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using percentage analysis, Pearson correlation, and the Chi-square test. The findings indicate that both financial rewards, including salaries, bonuses, and incentives, and non-financial recognition, such as appreciation, promotions, certificates, and career development opportunities, have a significant positive impact on employee motivation. Statistical analysis revealed a strong positive correlation (r = 0.848) and a significant association (p < 0.001) between reward and recognition systems and employee motivation. The study concludes that fair, transparent, and performance-based reward practices enhance employee engagement, productivity, organizational commitment, and sustainable organizational performance in the manufacturing sector.
KEYWORDS
The study concludes that reward and recognition systems have a significant positive influence on employee motivation in the manufacturing industry. The statistical analysis revealed that employees who perceive reward and recognition practices as fair, timely, and performance-based demonstrate higher levels of motivation, commitment, job satisfaction, and productivity. The Pearson correlation analysis indicated a strong positive relationship between reward and recognition systems and employee motivation (r = 0.848), while the Chi-Square test (χ² = 57.715, p < 0.001) confirmed a statistically significant association between the two variables. The findings highlight that both financial and non-financial rewards play an essential role in motivating employees. Recognition from supervisors, performance-based incentives, career advancement opportunities, and transparent reward policies contribute to improved employee engagement and organizational commitment. Manufacturing organizations that invest in effective reward and recognition programmes are more likely to experience increased productivity, reduced employee turnover, improved workplace morale, and sustainable organizational growth. Therefore, organizations should continuously strengthen their reward and recognition strategies to maintain a motivated workforce and achieve long-term competitive advantage.
