The rapid proliferation of generative AI tools across modalities—image, video, audio, voice, and code—has introduced a paradox: while individual capabilities have reached unprecedented levels, their fragmented deployment across disconnected platforms severely limits their collective utility. This paper investigates the problem of AI tool fragmentation and proposes a unified, canvas-based AI workspace that consolidates generative AI capabilities into a single, spatially-aware environment. Inspired by visual thinking tools like Excalidraw, the proposed system integrates multi-modal generative AI (text-to-image, text-to-audio, text-to-video, and code generation) within an infinite canvas, supplemented by guided AI prompting and contextual suggestion systems designed to assist users who lack both technical expertise and a clear starting direction. A comparative analysis of existing fragmented workflows versus the proposed integrated model is presented, alongside a discussion of the cognitive costs of context switching, the democratization of AI access, and the potential impact on creative and technical productivity.
KEYWORDS
This paper identified three core failures of the current generative AI landscape fragmentation, technical inaccessibility, and the blank-slate problem—and proposed a unified canvas-based workspace as a structural solution. The architecture integrates multi-modal generative AI into a single spatial interface with a guided prompting layer and a Workflow Seed Engine. Comparative workflow analysis confirmed near-complete elimination of context-switching overhead and significant improvement in output quality for non-expert users. The findings contribute both a concrete system design and a conceptual framework for how generative AI tools must evolve beyond individual capability toward integrated, accessible, and guided workflows.
