The tourism industry contributes significantly to economic growth and cultural exchange across the world. However, communication difficulties caused by language differences continue to affect travelers visiting unfamiliar places. Many existing translation applications provide fast language conversion but often fail to understand cultural context, local expressions, and real-time conversational meaning. To address these challenges, this study presents a smart tourist–translator platform that connects travelers with local translators through a mobile application. The system also integrates an AI-based itinerary generation module that creates personalized travel plans according to user preferences such as budget, duration, and interests. In addition, the application promotes agro-tourism and astro-tourism experiences by helping travelers discover local farms, rural activities, and stargazing locations. The frontend of the application is developed using Flutter, while Node.js and MySQL are used for backend processing and database management. The proposed platform improves communication, simplifies travel planning, and encourages sustainable local tourism. The proposed platform aims to create a more interactive, personalized, and culturally connected travel experience for users. It also supports local communities by promoting sustainable tourism and generating opportunities for local translators and tourism providers.
KEYWORDS
The proposed system offers an efficient and practical solution to overcome language barriers in the tourism sector. The platform ensures both accurate communication and personalized travel planning by integrating human translators with advanced AI-based itinerary generation. Tourists can easily connect with translators who understand their language, making interactions smoother and reducing misunderstandings during travel. At the same time, the AI module helps users create customized travel plans based on their preferences, budget, and duration, simplifying the overall planning process. In addition to communication and planning, the system introduces unique local experience modules such as agro tourism and astro tourism, allowing travelers to explore cultural, rural, and nature-based activities. This not only enriches the travel experience but also encourages deeper cultural exchange between tourists and local communities. By combining technology with human interaction and focusing on sustainability, the system contributes to responsible tourism while delivering a more engaging, convenient, and meaningful travel experience for users.
