- Ride sharing apps like Uber have grown so fast, and that means there’s tons of data on how people move around in cities. I think looking at this stuff can tell us about travel habits and where demand spikes. For this project, I’m digging into Uber trip records to spot things like how often trips happen, busy times of day, and hot spots for rides. The data comes from CSV files that list pickup dates, times, and places for each ride. Before I could really work with it, I had to clean things up, you know, get rid of missing parts and repeats so its not messing up the results. It seems kind of basic but necessary, otherwise the analysis would be off. To handle all that volume without my computer crashing, I used tools like Hadoop and Spark. They’re for big data, spreading the work out across machines or something, which makes everything run quicker. Some people might say its overkill for this, but it helped a lot. Then with Python, I went into the actual crunching and made some charts to show patterns, like graphs for peak hours or maps of busy areas. The visualizations make it easier to see what’s going on with travel behavior. I am not totally sure if all the insights are spot on yet, but they could help with city planning, figuring out better ways to manage traffic or whatever.
KEYWORDS
This study focused on analyzing Uber trip data using Python-based data analytics techniques and map visualization methods. The dataset containing trip information such as pickup time and location coordinates was processed and analyzed to understand ride demand patterns. Python libraries were used to clean the dataset, extract useful features, and perform exploratory data analysis to gain meaningful insights. During the preprocessing stage, the dataset was organized by removing missing or incorrect values and converting the time data into a proper format. Features such as hour, day, and month were extracted to analyze trip trends across different time intervals. These steps helped improve the accuracy and reliability of the analysis results. The analytical results showed that Uber ride demand is higher during evening peak hours and during weekends. This pattern is mainly due to work commuting and increased social or recreational activities during these times. Identifying these patterns helps in understanding passenger behavior and demand fluctuations in ride-sharing services. Map visualization techniques were also used to display pickup locations and identify areas with high ride demand. Big data frameworks such as Apache Spark and Apache Hadoop can further enhance the ability to process and analyze large volumes of transportation data efficiently.
