The Union Budget 2026–27 reiterates India’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable rural transformation. The Budget emphasises productivity enhancement, infrastructure expansion, rural enterprise promotion, and social inclusion, which collectively contribute to strengthening livelihood security. Drawing upon official budget documents and the Economic Survey 2025–26, this article analyses major rural development policy interventions and evaluates their potential impact. The findings suggest that increased public capital expenditure, digital governance expansion, and support for micro-enterprises are likely to accelerate rural income growth and reduce poverty. The Budget marks a transition from welfare-driven rural policy towards productivity-led rural economic transformation. Keywords
