Vendor performance evaluation plays a crucial role in supporting effective and strategic purchasing decisions in engineering manufacturing organizations. Purchasing functions increasingly depend on reliable vendors for ensuring consistent quality, timely delivery, cost efficiency, and uninterrupted production operations. The present study aims to examine the role of vendor performance evaluation in strengthening strategic purchasing decisions within engineering manufacturing organizations. The study focuses on key vendor performance dimensions such as delivery reliability, quality consistency, cost competitiveness, and responsiveness, and assesses their influence on strategic purchasing effectiveness. A descriptive research design is adopted for the study. Primary data are collected through a structured questionnaire distributed to procurement and supply chain professionals working in engineering manufacturing organizations, while secondary data are sourced from academic journals, industry reports, books, and published research studies related to purchasing and vendor management. The collected data are analyzed using descriptive statistical tools such as frequency and percentage analysis, supported by graphical representations for better clarity and understanding. The analysis helps in identifying patterns and trends in vendor performance evaluation practices and their contribution to strategic purchasing decisions. The findings of the study are expected to provide useful insights for purchasing managers in improving vendor selection, evaluation, and retention practices. The study also contributes to existing academic literature by highlighting the importance of structured vendor performance evaluation systems in strengthening strategic purchasing decisions in engineering manufacturing organizations.
