The dissemination of misinformation on digital platforms is a serious threat to society and has a negative impact on public opinion and the trust in digital media. In this work, an efficient Identification of Fake News using the NLP-based approaches and classification algorithms is introduce with the help of Machine learning methodology. The text data is used to learn and extract features using count vectoriser and TF-IDF techniques and Logistic regression is used for classification as it is simple and effective in binary classification. The external information sources and fact checking processes are added to the reliability of the model to form a hybrid detection framework. The model is trained and tested with real world data to make sure that it is accurate, precise and recall. The results of the experiment showed that the proposed approach outperforms the other approaches in distinguishing real and fake news articles. The study indicates that the creation of user-level scalable algorithms to detect fake news in real-time using machine learning and language features may be helpful for digital platforms and policy makers, in general.
KEYWORDS
The overall performance of the synthetic fake news detection system suggests that the system is capable of detecting and categorizing fake news articles with high accuracy through machine learning techniques. The results with the more sophisticated preprocessing methods, such as tokenization, TF-IDF vectorization, and feature extraction with the Random Forest method are very high, with accuracy, precision and recall values of 93%, 95% and 92% respectively. The results confirm the power and the validity of ensemble learning in dealing with complex text input and non-structural text input. Moreover, the modelling process was also adopted to develop the model in an user friendly web application, making the system more user friendly and applicable in real time where people are not technically skilled in assessing the validity of news. The solution is effective and feasible based on the issue of misinformation on the Internet. The system can be further improved by incorporating deep learning models like LSTM, BERT which can understand the semantic meaning in the context for future scope of work. Incorporating additional data, such as multilingual and multimedia (videos, photographs with captions) could greatly enhance the model's generalizability and effectiveness in a variety of news types. Additionally, the use of fact checking APIs and real-time data sources could be beneficial to maintain the model's accuracy and relevance, since new forms of fake news are constantly being developed. A possible direction of effort could be increasing the interpretability of the model's predictions and giving an explanation for categorization decision to enhance the user's confidence and transparency. Overall, these advances will aid in building a more robust and sophisticated fake news identification system that could be applied at a larger scale to help thwart disinformation.
