The present study examines the status of e-commerce adoption and consumer behaviour in Meerut District, Uttar Pradesh. The rapid growth of internet penetration, smartphone usage, digital payment systems and social media platforms has significantly altered the purchasing patterns of consumers in urban and semi-urban regions of the district. The study analyses consumer preferences regarding online platforms, payment methods, factors influencing purchase decisions and barriers affecting e-commerce adoption. The study adopts a descriptive and analytical research design and proposes a sample of 200 respondents selected through convenience sampling. The findings indicate that younger consumers and educated households are the dominant users of e-commerce services. Social media marketing, ease of use, convenience and discounts are the major drivers of online purchases. However, concerns regarding cyber security, product quality, delayed delivery and lack of digital literacy continue to hinder the growth of e-commerce in certain areas. The study offers practical recommendations for policymakers, educational institutions and business organizations for promoting digital commerce and improving consumer trust.
