Abstract

Workplace conflict is an inevitable aspect of organizational life, particularly in the automobile manufacturing industry, where employees work under demanding production schedules, quality standards, shift systems, and performance targets. If conflicts are not managed effectively, they can negatively influence employee morale, communication, teamwork, and overall job satisfaction. However, when handled through appropriate conflict management practices, workplace conflicts can become opportunities for improving collaboration, innovation, and organizational effectiveness. The present study aims to examine the impact of conflict management practices on employee job satisfaction in the automobile manufacturing industry, with special reference to Sandhar Technologies Limited, Bommasandra. The study identifies the major causes of workplace conflict and evaluates the effectiveness of conflict management practices such as communication, negotiation, mediation, leadership support, grievance handling, and teamwork. A descriptive research design was adopted for the study. Primary data were collected from 100 employees using a structured questionnaire, while secondary data were obtained from books, journals, company reports, and published research articles. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistical tools such as frequency distribution, percentage analysis, tables, and graphical representations. The findings indicate that effective conflict management practices positively influence employee job satisfaction by improving communication, strengthening interpersonal relationships, reducing workplace stress, enhancing trust in management, and promoting a healthy work environment. The study concludes that organizations that implement transparent conflict resolution policies, encourage employee participation, and provide supportive leadership experience higher levels of employee satisfaction and organizational performance. The research offers practical recommendations to help management strengthen conflict management practices, improve employee well-being, and achieve sustainable organizational growth in the competitive automobile manufacturing sector.

Full Article/Conclusion

The present study, "A Study on the Impact of Conflict Management Practices on Employee Job Satisfaction in the Automobile Manufacturing Industry," concludes that effective conflict management is essential for creating a positive and productive work environment. Workplace conflict is an unavoidable aspect of organizational life, especially in the automobile manufacturing industry, where employees work under demanding production schedules, quality standards, and performance expectations. The findings of the study reveal that communication gaps, work pressure, role ambiguity, and interpersonal differences are the major sources of workplace conflict. However, when organizations adopt effective conflict management practices such as open communication, negotiation, mediation, collaborative problem-solving, supportive leadership, and transparent grievance-handling mechanisms, conflicts can be resolved constructively. The study further establishes that there is a positive relationship between conflict management practices and employee job satisfaction. Employees who perceive conflict resolution processes as fair, timely, and transparent are more likely to experience higher levels of job satisfaction, motivation, organizational commitment, and trust in management. Effective conflict management also strengthens teamwork, enhances communication, reduces workplace stress, and contributes to improved organizational performance. The study highlights the important role of managers and human resource professionals in promoting a culture of mutual respect, cooperation, and employee participation. Furthermore, the research emphasizes the need for continuous training, periodic review of conflict management policies, and the implementation of effective grievance redressal systems to maintain healthy workplace relationships. Although the study is limited to a specific automobile manufacturing organization and a sample of 100 employees, its findings provide valuable insights for organizations seeking to improve employee satisfaction and organizational effectiveness. Overall, the study concludes that investing in well-structured conflict management practices not only enhances employee job satisfaction but also contributes to sustainable organizational growth, improved productivity, and long-term competitive success in the automobile manufacturing industry.
