Abstract

Modern conversational AI relies on Large Language Models (LLMs) deployed on cloud infrastructures, presenting severe data privacy vulnerabilities, unauthorized Personally Identifiable Information (PII) harvesting, and a lack of localized context retention. This paper introduces AAPPI (Ambient AI Personal Private Interface), a hybrid privacy-preserving hardware-software ecosystem that bridges local edge intelligence with cloud APIs. The system integrates a Spartan-6 FPGA hardware accelerator to manage a hardware-secured Vector Memory Vault for Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).

Full Article/Conclusion

The This paper presented AAPPI (Ambient AI Personal Private Interface), a hybrid hardware-software architecture engineered to resolve the fundamental privacy vulnerabilities, data harvesting risks, and memory processing bottlenecks inherent in cloud-reliant conversational AI systems. By integrating a dedicated Spartan-6 FPGA hardware accelerator with local Ollama LLM execution under the orchestration of a centralized Middleman Engine, AAPPI establishes a zero-trust, edge-bound intelligence platform. The system's hardware-driven Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipeline successfully demonstrates that as local storage capacity scales to preserve years of user interactions within the Memory Vault, parallel vector search scoring maintains real-time context retrieval speeds. Furthermore, for operations requiring live world information, AAPPI's dynamic PII Masking and Re-indexing Gateway guarantees total user anonymity by sanitizing sensitive entities before external transmission and restoring contextual fidelity locally upon response retrieval. Overall, AAPPI provides a practical, scalable, and privacy-first blueprint for next-generation personal AI interfaces, proving that localized intelligence can deliver rich temporal memory and ambient responsiveness without compromising sensitive user data.
