The increasing demand for automation and intelligent monitoring systems in defense applications has driven the need for compact, efficient, and cost-effective air defense solutions. Traditional air defense systems are often complex and expensive, relying on large-scale radar and missile infrastructure. This paper presents a prototype Air Defence System using the ESP32 microcontroller, designed to detect and track aerial objects in real time using sensor-based automation. The prototype utilizes sensors such as ultrasonic and LDR (Light Dependent Resistor) modules for object detection, paired with servo motors for target tracking and alignment. The ESP32 microcontroller serves as the core processing unit, providing fast computation, wireless connectivity, and IoT integration capabilities. Through automation, the system can identify approaching objects, trigger alerts, and execute motion responses autonomously. The developed model demonstrates the feasibility of implementing a low-cost, energy-efficient, and intelligent air defense prototype. With further enhancement such as camera integration and IoT-based cloud monitoring, the system can be adapted for real-world surveillance, military base security, and autonomous defense mechanisms.
KEYWORDS
The proposed Air Defence System using ESP32 presents an effective and low-cost solution for simulating real-time object detection and tracking. The system successfully demonstrates how embedded technologies can replicate the fundamental functionalities of modern air defense systems in a simplified and accessible manner. By integrating sensors, actuators, and a microcontroller-based processing unit, the system achieves reliable detection, efficient tracking, and automated response within a compact framework. The implementation of the system highlights the potential of using affordable hardware components to develop intelligent surveillance solutions. The results indicate that the system is capable of performing real-time monitoring with satisfactory accuracy and minimal latency. This makes it suitable not only for educational purposes but also for preliminary research in defense automation and smart monitoring systems. The project emphasizes the importance of combining embedded systems with automation to create scalable and efficient solutions. Looking toward the future, the system can be significantly enhanced by incorporating advanced technologies. The integration of camera modules and computer vision algorithms can enable more accurate object detection and classification. The addition of IoT capabilities can allow remote monitoring and control through cloud platforms, improving accessibility and usability. Furthermore, the implementation of machine learning techniques can enable the system to make intelligent decisions based on environmental data, thereby increasing its effectiveness in real-world scenarios. The system can also be expanded to include long-range sensors, multi-axis tracking mechanisms, and GPS integration to improve its performance and applicability. With continuous development and technological advancements, the proposed system has the potential to evolve into a fully autonomous and intelligent defense solution. Overall, this work serves as a foundation for future research and innovation in the field of embedded systems and automated defense technologies.
