Abstract
This systematic literature review aims to synthesize and evaluate the select existing literature on the impact of organizational culture on employee performance. The shared values, beliefs, and behaviours that define an organization's culture significantly influence employee attitudes, drive motivation, and impact overall performance. Despite its significance, research on how different aspects of organizational culture affect employee performance outcomes remains fragmented. This review aggregates studies from diverse industries, focusing on the interplay between organizational culture and employee performance indicators, including productivity, job satisfaction, commitment, innovation, employee engagement, and motivation. Key findings suggest that a strong, cohesive culture has a positive influence on employee performance, particularly in environments that emphasize collaboration, open communication, and alignment between individual and organizational values. Moreover, cultural dimensions such as leadership style, trust, and work-life balance are shown to be pivotal in enhancing employee motivation and job satisfaction. The review concludes with practical implications for organizations seeking to foster a performance-oriented culture. The purpose of this review is to consolidate the select existing research on the relationship between organizational culture and employee performance, providing an evidence-based understanding of how various cultural factors contribute to or hinder employee performance. This review will critically analyze the methodological approaches employed in the literature, identify key themes and trends, and propose future research directions to explore the nuances of this relationship further.
