An Efficient Synthesis of 2, 4, 5-Triphenyl Imidazole Derivatives Promoted By Mg (NO3)2

ABSTRACT:

            A simple, highly versatile and an efficient synthesis of 2, 4, 5-trisubstituted imidazole that was obtained by three component cyclocondensation of benzil, substituted aromatic aldehydes and ammonium acetate in solvent free condition using Mg (NO3)2 acts as catalyst. The main advantages of this method of process are cost effectiveness of catalyst, easy work-up and purification of products by non-chromatographic methods, good to excellent yields and very short reaction time. The newly synthesized derivatives were evaluated by advanced spectroscopic data such as 1HNMR, 13CNMR and LCMS and the structural determination of the desired compounds were determined by elemental analysis.
